Discipline which deals with pulp (“nerve”) diseases. If tooth decay, trauma or other change in tooth impairs the integrity of the teeth in a way that causes pulp disease (inflammation, necrosis, etc.), it is necessary to remove the pulp and adequately fulfil the root canal. This procedure is called endodontic treatment or “root canal job”.
